Gottifredi Maffioli signs partnership with Ogyre to move towards plastic neutrality

Gottifredi Maffioli, a historic Italian company and leader in the production of high-performance nautical ropes, is pleased to announce its partnership with Ogyre, an Italian start-up dedicated to the fight against marine litter, which will be presented at the Genoa International Boat Show.
As part of its longstanding commitment to sustainability and full integration of ESG principles, Gottifredi Maffioli has decided to make its most iconic One Design products completely plastic neutral. In fact, thanks to the collaboration with Ogyre, for every kilogram of tops sold, the equivalent weight of plastic dumped in the oceans is recovered.

Founded in 1926 by Maria Gottifredi, the company has always placed environmental and social responsibility at the heart of its values. This partnership with Ogyre is part of a wider context of sustainable initiatives, such as the exclusive use of bio-based Dyneema® in production, which significantly reduces the carbon footprint, the adoption of lean manufacturing methods to optimise resources and minimise waste, and the use of energy from renewable sources.

“We are very pleased with this partnership, which for us is a concrete and effective step towards plastic neutrality. We have chosen to start with the most iconic tops in the One Design range, which are the best loved and best known by the boating public, from Optimists to flying boats and One Designs such as the RS21 and J70. We believe that these products are the best tool to reach the greatest number of sailors, making them aware of the need to care for the seas and oceans.”, commented Rossella Maffioli, Commercial Director of Gottifredi Maffioli.

We’re proud to support Gottifredi Maffioli’s journey towards plastic neutrality, because it’s a company that speaks to the hearts of great sportsmen and enthusiasts around the world, an Italian excellence that has managed to conquer the international spotlight. Gottifredi Maffioli’s commitment strengthens us and inspires us to seek new collaborations with partners who share our deep love of the sea. It is thanks to the commitment and trust of companies that believe in us that we are able to continue our mission,’ concludes Antonio Augeri, co-founder of Ogyre.
